Thorne B-Complex is a dietary supplement containing a bioactive complex of vitamins from the group B in the most effective forms.

Vitamins from group B – is a package of substances soluble in water, which are essential for the proper work of the organism and need to be provided with food. They demonstrate a wide spectrum of effects, however, their most prominent role is fulfilled in regulating the functions of the nervous and cardiovascular system and energy metabolism. Apart from vitamin B12, they don’t have the ability to accumulate in the system, therefore they should be taken every day.

The supplement is distinguished by the presence of carefully selected, most active and safest forms of vitamins, such as P5P, methylfolate or methylcobalamin.

Vitamin B1 (thiamin) – helps to maintain proper psychological functions, plays a major role in the health of the circulatory system and energy metabolism. It is used in many forms in order to increase mental abilities and clear the mind.

Vitamin B2 (riboflavin-5′-phosphate) – effective form of riboflavin. It helps to maintain healthy skin and mucous membranes, influences the state of vision, helps to protect the organism against excessive oxidative stress. It may reduce the feeling of fatigue and contribute to the proper functioning of the nervous system.

Vitamin B3 (niacin and niacinamide) – it has incredibly positive influence on regulating lipid profile by lowering total cholesterol and improving the proportion of HDL and LDL fractions. It is also used in many psychological diseases, such as schizophrenia. It contributes to reducing the feeling of fatigue and weariness. It also influences the state of skin and mucous membranes.

Vitamin B5 (calcium pantothenate) – takes part in energy metabolism, especially in lipid metabolism as a coenzyme A and plays an important role in the process of the production of steroid hormones and vitamin D. It may reduce fatigue and improve mental ability.

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxal 5-Phosphate,, P5P) – bioactive form of vitamin B6, the effect of which is 5 times stronger than traditional pyridoxine. It supports the process of homocysteine breakdown to cysteine, takes part in the production of red cells, contributes to the regeneration of hormonal activity, is a cofactor in many biochemical reactions, among others in neurotransmitter transformations.

Vitamin B7 (biotin) – it helps to maintain healthy skin and hair, is a popular component of supplements for women, it may also improve the state of mucous membranes. It is a coenzyme of carboxylases, takes part in the synthesis of fatty acids. It supports the health of the nervous system and maintaining proper psychological functions.

Vitamin B9 (5-Methyltetrahydrofolate, methylfolate, 5-MTHF) – a biologically active form of folate. It takes part in DNA synthesis, it is incredibly important during pregnancy in order to maintain proper fetus development. It takes part in producing blood and amino acid synthesis, it contributes to the breakdown of homocysteine to methionine, takes part in the process of cell division, supports the work of the nervous and immune systems.

Vitamin B12 (methylcobalamin) – an incredibly important factor for the health of the nervous system. It takes part in the production process of myelin sheaths and neurons, helps to maintain proper psychological functions and mental abilities. It takes part in the production of red cells and in the processes of cell division. It is a cofactor in the reaction of homocysteine conversion to methionine.

Choline – the compound from the group of betaines, which helps in the proper functioning of liver and takes part in fat metabolism. It intensifies homocysteine metabolism. It is a substrate for the production of acetylcholine neurotransmitter, which is responsible for memory, concentration and the ability of analytical thinking.

Folic acid trap
In food and supplements synthetic form of folic acid is commonly used - pteroylmonoglutamic acid. However, it turns out that it is not a healthy practice, since as Norwegian researchers proved in the research on a large sample of people, the supplementation with folic acid contributes to the considerable growth of the risk of cancer. The reason for this may be the commonness of the occurrence of gene MTHFR polymorphism, which codes the production of enzymes transforming folic acid in the active, methylated folate. Therefore, to circumvent the problem and avoid increasing the risk of carcinogenesis, it is recommended to take folate in a ready-made, methylated form, which can be found in the supplement made by the company Thorne.

The importance for the circulatory system
The supplement containing vitamins from the group B, especially in their active forms, may be helpful especially for those who fight with anemia and increased level of homocysteine, which is one of the most trustworthy risk markers of atherosclerosis development and heart attack.

Vitamins B for the health of brain
Proper supply of these vitamins is a key factor to maintain proper health of nervous system cells, efficient neurotransmitter metabolism and, as a result of this, proper well-being and physical condition. Supplementing the level of these vitamins may result in the reduced feeling of fatigue, better mood and more efficient brain work.

Thorne B-Complex is recommended to people with diagnosed deficits and those who complain about problems with memory, concentration, energy level and well-being. It is incredibly helpful in circulatory system diseases prophylaxis, especially in the case of high homocysteine concentration.
