Kirkman, Biofilm Defence® is an exceptional combination of carefully selected enzymes, which have the ability to dissolve bacterial biofilm matrix, which may appear in the human organism as a result of the activity of disease-causing microorganisms.
The preparation is recommended especially to people with weak immune system, dealing with recurring diseases and bacterial infections. The use of the supplement is worth considering especially when standard antibiotic therapies are not effective or when the effects are short-lasting. The presence of the harmful biofilm may be suspected especially in case of chronic problems with sinuses and upper respiratory tract; various kinds of skin problems and non-healing wounds; frequent infections in sex organs.
What is biofilm and what problems it causes
Biofilm, also called biological membrane, is a multicellular formation, covered with a mucosal layer, accumulating various kinds of microorganisms. Thanks to the ability of adhesion, it adheres to the surface of the tissues of living organisms. Most often, we may differentiate more than one kind of microorganisms in biofilm. There may be various bacteria, protozoans, fungi and yeasts in its composition. Biofilm produces both beneficial and harmful microorganisms.
The problem appears when a natural balance in the digestive system and the intestines is disturbed and biofilm composed of harmful pathogens is spread in the intestines. Biological membrane provides a kind of protection – bacteria become more resistant to the effect of antibiotics and are not easily available for cells of the immune system, prepared for the fight with pathogens (e.g. phagocytes).
Researchers estimate that ca. 70% of the immune system of the human being is located in the intestines. If a pathological biological membrane is developed, immunity suffers first. Moreover, biofilm fragments may disconnect from the major part and colonize other places in the organism, leading to the expansion of infections.
Enzymes as a weapon to fight with biofilm
A breakthrough in the fight with biofilm was isolating particular elements of its structure. Researchers discovered that biological membrane in majority is built of polysaccharides, proteins, nucleic acids and fibrin. Studies proved that some digestive enzymes may break down chosen components of pathogenic biofilm. Therefore, biological membrane matrix is broken and microbes lose their protection.
In the presented preparation, all key enzymes were gathered together, which not only facilitates digestion of food, but additionally destroys harmful biological membranes which colonize the digestive system. The producer took care not only of the proper selection of ingredients, but also their dose. The amounts of proteases were balanced in such way not to irritate stomach when applied on an empty stomach. In the composition of the preparation there are a few groups of enzymes, specializing in breaking down bonds, characteristic to certain kinds of chemical compounds.
Enzymes responsible for digesting carbohydrates may be helpful in rifting bonds appearing in polysaccharides, glycolipids and glycoproteins, which are one of the basic structural ingredients of disease-causing biofilm.
In this group there are: pectinase, cellulose, beta-glucanase, xylanase, which support digestion of fiber and split “beta” bonds in polysaccharides; glucoamylase, amylase and invertase, degrading the so-called “alpha” bonds, appearing in starch and other complex carbohydrates. Additionally, they support immunity, balance immune response of the organism, have antioxidant and antibacterial effects (especially invertase).
Enzymes responsible for digesting proteins answer for destroying peptide bonds, thanks to which they may lead to the degradation of proteins building biofilm. Additionally, they are able to digest fragments of damaged or dead cells.
This group includes optimal, safe for the stomach, amounts of proteolytic enzymes, i.e. protease AM, obtained from controlled fermentation of Aspergillus mellueus, which hydrolyzes a wide range of proteins and protease 6.0, which is active in slightly acidic environment with pH equal to 6.
Special attention should be paid to two unique complexes: Serrapeptase and Nattokinase, i.e. blends of proteases, which break down protein substrates in an analogous way to serrapeptase and nattokinase. They may dissolve not only fibrin, which forms biofilm, but they also prevent the creation of clots and destroy dead tissues in the organism.
Enzyme responsible for digesting fats, i.e. lipase may help to eliminate biofilm by the breakdown of lipids present in its structure. It splits triglycerides into molecules of fatty acids and glycerol. Additionally, it is conducive to maintaining proper permeability of cell membranes of the organism, thanks to which, it facilitates the absorption of nutrients.
Summing up, Biofilm Defence® is one of the best ways to fight with biofilm, in which dangerous bacteria may live. It is worth attention especially in case of weak immunity, frequent infections and Candida hyperplasia. An additional benefit from using the preparation is facilitation of digestion and elimination of gastric ailments.
