NOW® Probiotic-10™ 100 Billion is a unique supplement containing in its composition as many as ten bacteria strains, exhibiting a positive influence on the functioning of the digestive tract and indirectly on the functioning of the whole organism!
Lactobacillus acidophilus is a stick-shaped bacterium, which naturally inhabits small intestine. As a probiotic strain, i.e. the one that brings healthy benefits, is characterized by immunity to stomach and bile acids, with which it meets during the passage through the subsequent parts of the digestive tract.
The main task of Lactobacillus acidophilus is competing for the adhesion place in the intestine with pathogenic bacteria and the combat with them resulting from their activity. By breaking down lactose, it constitutes a helpful means for people with the intolerance of this sugar, thanks to which it decreases the related symptoms. The product of the metabolism of milk sugar is lactic acid and other organic acids, which by lowering pH inside the small intestine effectively changes the conditions prevailing there, which become unfavorable for such microorganisms as – Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus ureus, Salmonella, Candida albicans and many more. Thanks to this, it not only reduces the possibility of infection, but also allows to maintain the work of intestines on the proper level, which results in better absorption of microelements, vitamins B and appetite improvement.
Moreover, this strain possesses enzymes allowing to more effectively digest nutrients and it also supports the production of vitamin K. Thanks to the help in digestion, it allows to indirectly avoid cancers of lower parts of digestive tract, thanks to moving digested mass faster, by which it inhibits its decay and carcinogenic effect. Apart from the ability to colonize the digestive tract, its presence is also observed in vagina, uterine cervix and urethra, thanks to which it reduces the intensity and occurrence of bacterial and fungal infections in these places.
Apart from the production of lactic acid, it owes the ability to fight pathogens also to the production of antibiotic substances, such as – acidolin, acidophilus, lactocin and many more.
Bifidobacterium lactis is a microorganism classified to lactic acid bacteria, which have the ability to break down lactose. It results from the presence of such enzymes as lactase in their enzymatic apparatus. Thanks to this, the bacterium reduces diarrhea, bloated stomach and other symptoms related to lactose intolerance.
Along with other bacteria belonging to probiotic strains, it has the ability to join intestinal mucosa, thanks to which it competes with pathogenic strains present there for food components. It allows to effectively fight with these bacteria and consequently protects from their negative influence on intestinal health.
By containing many enzymes useful in the process of digestion, it supports the digestive tract in the breakdown of macronutrients and decreases permeability of the intestines for negative products. Thanks to this, it has the ability to regulate cholesterol level in blood and lowers the possibility of infections resulting from the presence of waste products of digestion.
Apart from the influence on the final sections of the digestive tract, Bifidobacterium strain positively influences bacterial flora present in oral cavity. It has been proven that it helps to fight dental caries and numerous infections in this area.
It also shows a positive influence on the functioning of the immune system, as it has immunomodulating effect by increasing the activity of lymphocytes T.
Lactobacillus plantarum is a Gram-positive bacteria belonging to the group of bacteria fermenting lactose. Among probiotic strains it best adapts to stressors appearing on the immune system.
Their presence was observed both in the upper part of the digestive tract, in the intestines and in the genitourinary system. They have the ability to produce specific substances, called bacteriocins, which have the ability to destroy pathogen bacteria in the neighborhood. Thanks to this, they inhibit the appearance of inflammatory processes there, by which they counteract impairing their functions.
They have the ability to produce lactic acid and short chain fatty acids, thanks to which they improve intestinal mechanisms and inhibit the development of pathogens.
Bifidobacterium longum is a Gram-positive bacterium constituting an important component of mother’s milk. In the process of breastfeeding, it is passed to a baby, thanks to which it supports its proper development and counteracts gripes, diarrheas and other disorders of the digestive tract.
It belongs to the group of the so-called psychobiotics, as it has the ability to influence gut–brain axis, thanks to which it helps to normalize mood, reduce depression and moreover they demonstrate a positive influence in irritable bowel syndrome.
It inhibits the development of inflammation and at the same time it reduces the amount of cortisol in this period. It helps to avoid its negative effect on the organism.
It enables the production of vitamins from the group B, thanks to which it allows to avoid the effects of deficits.
Lactobacillus rhamnosus belongs to the group of probiotics, which have the ability to synthesize lactic acid. By lowering the value of pH in the digestive tract, they induce unbeneficial conditions for the growth of many harmful bacteria and fungi.
They allow to restore the balance of intestinal microflora, thanks to which they counteract the development of many diseases and support proper absorption of nutrients in the intestines.
By supporting digestion of nutrients, it has the ability to improve insulin sensitivity, which in the current times is usually too low. It allows for better response of the organism to the presence of glucose in blood, thanks to which it allows to fight with obesity.
The positive influence of this strain was also proven in counteracting allergic diseases, mainly atopic dermatitis.
Streptococcus thermophilus is a thermophilic Gram-positive bacterium, which after attaching to the mucous membrane of the colon competes for the place and nutrients with pathogen bacteria, fungi and viruses.
Similarly to other bacteria from this group, it supports the breakdown of lactose and produces lactic acid.
It has an especially important influence on maintaining proper colon function, thanks to which it lowers the risk of cancer of this organ.
It protects intestines against harmful influence of chemotherapy and antibiotics. The harmful influence of these substances results from the fact that they cause death of good bacterial flora, due to which they disturb their proper functions.
It stimulates the synthesis of folic acid and hemoglobin, thanks to which it counteracts anemia. This strain demonstrates immunomodulating effect consisting in inhibiting the functions of lymphocytes T and stimulates the production of macrophages and cytokines.
It is responsible for maintaining skin in the proper state by stimulating the production of ceramides, thanks to which it increases its hydration and firmness.
Moreover, it has anticancer effect, by inhibiting the conversion of nitrates to harmful nitrites.
The influence of this strain on pregnant women and developing children is especially important because of the production of folic acid, which supports synthesis, repair and methylation of DNA.
Lactobacillus paracasei belong to Gram-positive bacteria having the ability of glucose homofermentation, as a result of which they produce lactic acid. Thanks to this, along with other probiotics, they reduce intestinal settlement by pathogen bacteria. Moreover, it lowers the number of Streptococcus mutant bacteria, which are responsible for the decay in oral cavity.
This strain has many enzymes, thanks to which it effectively supports the immune system in digesting complex substances to simpler ones.
Lactobacillus salivarius is a bacterium belonging to Lactobacillus, demonstrating immunomodulating functions and support digestive system. It induces the expression of opioid receptor OPRM1 in the intestines, which inhibits pain reaction.
Moreover, it helps to restore proper bacterial balance in the intestines damaged by the activity of antibiotics and improper lifestyle. Thanks to this, it positively influences digestive processes taking place there and supports the absorption of nutrients.
It has an enzyme – lactase, which is responsible for the breakdown of milk sugar, thanks to which it positively influences the fight with lactose intolerance.
By the positive influence on the absorption of nutrients, it indirectly supports lowering cholesterol level and normalizing blood pressure.
The main place, in which this strain lives is the colon, small intestine, vagina and oral cavity. In these places, it synthesizes bacteriocins, which counteract pathogen and fungi of Candida kind. Moreover, it protects throat against diseases induced by Streptococcus pyogenes. It reduces the infections of genitourinary system and oral cavity. The influence of this probiotic on Helicobacter pylory, which causes stomach ulcers, is also promising. To fight pathogens, they also use hydrogen peroxide, which, locally secreted, has antiseptic effect and inhibits their growth.
It has the ability to modulate the immune system, thanks to which it decreases the symptoms related to asthma, reduces skin changes, such as atypical skin inflammation, moreover it supports the treatment of liver necrosis. It inhibits the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, thanks to which it protects organs against excessive inflammation, which has a destructive effect on the infected tissues.
The influence of L. salivarius on chronic fatigue, depression, stress reduction and anxiety may also be effective, thanks to the fact that it supports the function of gut-brain axis, thanks to which it is responsible for proper stimulation of the central nervous system and its functioning.
Bifidobacterium breve demonstrates many positive effects on the intestines. It belongs to Gram-positive bacteria, which dominate only on the terrain of large intestine, as in vitro studies proved its strong affinity to HT-29 cells. By sticking to mucous membrane of the intestines, they compete with bad bacteria (e.g. E. coli) for the place and food, thanks to which they reduce their number and restore proper functioning of the digestive tract.
It demonstrates the immunity to the effect of enzymes and gastric acid during crossing subsequent parts of the digestive tract.
As a result of the fermentation of carbohydrates and amino acids, it produces lactic acid in the form of L(+), by which it normalizes the work of the intestines, Thanks to this, it mitigates the appearance of constipations, bloated stomach and diarrhea.
They constitute the first defense line against Clostridium difficale and Helicobacter pylori.
They inhibit the loss of water an increase skin moisturize working with galactooligosaccharides, thanks to which they are responsible for its proper state and elasticity.
Lactobacillus casei are stick-shaped Gram-positive bacteria belonging to Lactobacillus. They have the ability of glucose homofermentation, thanks to which they produce lactic acid. They support the functioning of the digestive tract and inhibit the negative influence of the bacteria.
Its positive influence during treating gripes and constipations in children has been proven and also in the therapy of Crohn's disease, inflammation of intestines, irritable bowel syndrome and ulcerative colitis. Thanks to this, they support their proper functions and they indirectly reduce the development of acne, allergy and protect the organism against infections.
NOW FOODS Probiotic-10™ 100 Billion is a dietary supplement addressed to everyone, as the multitude of negative factors, such as antibiotics, negatively influence bacterial balance in the intestines, thanks to which they reduce the amount of bacteria having a positive influence on the organism. It is especially important for pregnant and breastfeeding women, as many probiotic strain demonstrate a positive influence on developing fetus and development of children.
