Bean Pericarp (shell) (pericarpium phaseoli) is a rich source of bioactive ingredients: amino acids (also exogenous or branched), flavonoids, fatty acids, triterpenes, sugar, steroid saponins microelements (soluble silica, chromium, potassium, etc.), guanidine derivatives acting anti-diabetic, organic acids, vitamins (C and E). Moreover, it has a slightly diuretic effect, removes swelling and causes excretion of uric acid from the kidneys and phosphates. It stimulates insulin-producing pancreatic hormone having a high anabolism, resulting in lowering blood glucose levels.
