Periwinkle (Vinca minor) grows in Europe (in Poland in the plains). Medicinal raw material is a herb of common periwinkle plant (Herba Vincae minoris) containing a mixture of 30 alkaloids (vincamine, vincanine, vincorine) and flavonoids, triterpenes and tannins. In medicine and supplementation - vincamine is used the most often. Herb of periwinke is increasing oxygenation of the brain and enhancing cerebral circulation (transfer circulatory from microvasculature to the gray substance of the brain), extending to the blood vessels, lowering blood pressure, antitoxic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, improving metabolism, increasing appetite. It combines with other herbs (eg chestnut flower, midland hawthorn fruit [Crataegus oxyacantha]). In the sports supplementation it is used in nutritional and improving concentration and memory supplements.
