N-acetyl-L-glutamine, modern acetylated form of the amino acid glutamine combined with acetic acid, allowing for higher bioavailability of the compound characterized by the ability to use lower doses than those used for the free form of glutamine. Acetylated form of glutamine (NAG) is taken up by muscle cells. It has anti-catabolic potential, supporting biological renewal of the organism. It is often combined with other forms of glutamine increasing capacities in the different parts of the amino acid. NAG has also anti-catabolic potential as mono-preparation supplement. In the sports supplementation it is a component of pre- and post-workout supplements, supporting the bioavailability of the muscle tissue.
