Lesser burnet (Pimpinella saxifraga) is a plant of the Eurasian climate. Its medicinal raw materials are: Root - Radix Pimpinellae and herb - Herba Pimpinellae, it is diuretic, anti-inflammatory, stimulates digestion, expectorant and antispasmodic. The root contains proteins, sugars, tannins, phenolic acids, essential oil (including Azulan), triterpenes saponins and resins. Herb tannins, coumarin derivatives and essential oils. Products with lesser burnet may also be used externally as a mouth rinse (in inflammation of the gums and throat). Fresh juice removes dermal stains and heals pimples face (e.g. acne).
