Common nettle (Urtica dioica) is present around the globe, including Poland, excluding the tropical zone. The medicinal raw material and component of supplements is the root of nettle (Urtrica Radix), as well as extracts from the leaves (see. Nettle leaf [Folium urticae]), which have a definitelly different applications. The root of nettle usually contains organic acids, phytosterols, lecithin, potassium, mucus, calcium and waxes. Formulations with root nettle are anti-inflammatory by reducing the level of SHBG and 5-alpha-reductase and, consequently, lower the level of estrogen and DTH.
